The client maintains many IBM P8 FileNet document management systems for its customers and clients. The operating team is to be supported here. The deployment and customising of the systems is to be automated to a large extent with the help of the FileNet Deployment Manager and Urban Code Deploy.

The main task is the creation of installation packages and migration of data structures for the client's IBM P8 FileNet systems and stages. The installations are created using the FileNet Deployment Manager (FDM) and set up for automated deployment in IBM Urban Code Deploy (UCD).

Furthermore, the consulting and training of the IT system engineers in the FileNet Deployment Manager is planned, as well as the programming of scripts for operational support.

Results

The use of FDM and UCD has significantly simplified and accelerated the deployment of data structures between the stages of the FileNet systems. Automation ensures the completeness and correctness of the deployments. The client manages many clients with different data structures and archives. Furthermore, several FileNet systems with multiple stages are operated in the cloud. For these reasons, the automation of effort and time represents a major benefit for the client and its customers. The documentation of the procedure and the training of the employees enables the team to use and expand the automation for this special area independently after the end of the project.
