Implementation of the management process for the administration of user rights for several SAP systems via a standardised and easy-to-use web application

A large German property company uses several SAP systems in different versions. The company has developed an authorisation concept in order to be able to manage the many roles for the users in a structured manner. There can be several hundred roles in an SAP system. A solution is being sought that enables simple administration and a simple authorisation process. This should significantly simplify and accelerate the onboarding of new employees.

Solution

An SAP identity management application has been developed as a web application to manage the roles for SAP users in all of the company's SAP systems. The current roles of a user from all SAP systems can be viewed in an overview. The role data is read live from the SAP systems. New access rights, changes to roles and deletions can now be easily requested. An authorisation procedure with the connection of an external service provider has been implemented so that all parties involved are notified automatically.

Result

The application has now been used by the customer for several years as a standard application for applying for SAP roles. Over a hundred applications are processed every month, which are then archived in the DMS. The result is a considerably simplified process for requesting, authorising and managing SAP access rights for users, managers and the service provider.
